About

First and foremost, my Dad is God.  He made everything, he knows everything, his freakin’ streets are made with gold, and he adopted me!  Yes, I am a princess.

Wife to the best husband in the world, sorry ladies, yep, I got him.

Mom to a miracle daughter that keeps me on my toes.

18 year survivor of MEN2A Cancer.  I have Addison’s Disease.

Writer.  I love to write.  It is in me.  I am discovering more and more who I am and there are certain things that I have to accept.  I will never be in the Olympics, I will never speak tons of languages, and I will never be a famous rock star.  But I can write.  Smirk on my face and rubbing my hands together, here is my baby.  Read it.  You will like it.

  1. Thank you for liking one of my posts and following my blog. That was an encouragement to me. I’m new at this blogging thing, but am a long time writer. I’m new in my cancer journey and have found writing to already be a great help. I’m thankful that I am held tightly in God’s hands and am thankful that He knows me by name. He is my Author.

    Again, thanks!

  3. Thank you for following my blog, “From the Gross to the Subtle”. It took me a little while to get over here. I was focusing on using my blog for my students; but, there is so much beauty in the blogosphere. Thank you for sharing your story; mindfulness and meditation are integral parts of Cancer recovery. I know we will have so much to share.

  4. Beautiful, beautiful blog. I absolutely love it!

You are a current and valued follower of the Human Ponderings Blog, because of this I want to inform you of some changes happening to the blog…

The Human Ponderings blog has a new home- http://www.humanponderings.com WordPress has served me so well and I am so grateful for the friends, followers, and interactions I have gained there- however by making Human Ponderings into it’s own site I have much more control and access over the blog which will allow Human Ponderings to (hopefully) grow in wonderful new directions!

    Thank you for your time!
As a fellow blogger I would appreciate it if you could take a brief moment to explore the new website (still under construction but mostly done and open for public viewing) and perhaps provide some feedback!

  5. I was about to comment that you write in a coherent and consistent style and with brevity and clarity only to find out a little later that you are a writer. 🙂 …and an 18-year survivor of cancer at that! May God bless you as He also answered the prayer of Hezekiah. ^_^

  6. I admire your life story and your work, and am working on writing and publishing my own life story. If you have some time, could you give me some tips on who you worked with for publishing, which had the best results, and how long the process took? I’d appreciate it a lot. Thanks! 🙂

  8. Hello Caroline, welcome to the blog on self-healing. May you find there material of help to you and others you wish to help. If you wish to quote from my writings feel free to do so and where possible refer to the source document. There is no need to refer to me unless there is a good reason.
With my best wishes to you on your journey which you may come to understand fully from my writings: to understand that, no matter how “bad” or difficult life may be there is a beautiful purpose in it for each one of us.

  9. Caroline, Thanks for reading my blog, from your writings I feel like we are kindred spirits. I look forward to reading more of your work. I love your courage in the face of ours worlds most fierce enemy, cancer, I have lost six cousins and my brother, who was one of my best friends to it and now have a dear friend who is in the last stages and fighting for her life. Cancer has a way of running people away from God, they don’t understand that it rains on the just and the unjust, and for you to share your love for him and your faith with others is a precious gift and it will make a difference to many, because we never hear enough about those who fight and win, we need more of that! God bless you. Nina Brown Johnson

  10. Thank you for following my blog. Reading yours is a challenge, and very rewarding. My ex-wife (my son’s mother) shared a very similar suffering.

I am undecided about religion. I suppose until recently I believed that one could walk with personal suffering, and accept poverty so that one is able to assist the vulnerable of society, but not need God.

Sometimes I think that if Christ were here today, he would be working with me in the community rehab centre; dodging the punches and pulling people back from despair. And sometimes failing.

But so many modern Christians I see leave church in their 4x4s and go home to vote for a reduction in public services and welfare. And would blanche at washing anyone’s feet, let alone those of street addicts or sex workers.

I get confused. Help me see.

    • “Help me see” I can not agree with you more that the majority of those in the church is not living the lives they should. But we do not follow these humans or even the church, we follow Jesus. And Jesus was perfect! And he suffered and he knows our sufferings. He loves us! Perfect God loves us! I recommend you read the Gospels, the life of Jesus in the Bible. Also, I find ANY book by Tim Keller to be so helpful to me. I think you would like his book “The Prodigal God.” Seeking is all we are called to do! Grace is the message of the Bible. I would love to chat more. Thank you for your comment!

      • I’m unsure if Jesus was/is perfect. He would certainly lose his appeal to me if he was. I know that he is sometimes called ‘the son of god’. But for me (and some of the Gospel-writers) he was also ‘the son of man’. And men are not perfect. And it makes them strong. x

  11. ็Hi, your blog just give me a hope. My boyfriend’s dad having a Liver and Pancreas Cancer for 4 years and now he is in an advance stage. The family keep searching for the best hospital and doctor to heal him and he have been treated 3 years of FOLFIRINOX chemo followed by 2 in 1 GEMCITABINE and ABRAXANE. Now a day, he is very depress and hopeless. If you could provide any recommendation to the following, that would be really useful to us and I would be really thank you.

    1. Do you have any recommendation of any good Hospital and good Doctor?
    2. Do you have any recommendation to help him live his live with cancer happier?

    Thank you 🙂

    • Hugs! So much love and kindness in your comment.
      1. A good doctor is a treasure. I have been treated and continue to be treated at Duke University Hospital. I definitely recommend considering Duke if that is an option. I have MEN2A Cancer. I am sorry that I do not know that much about that specific type. They do have a huge Cancer hospital. I have been treated there for 11 years and write a lot about how amazing Duke is.
      2. JESUS. Period. He provides peace that is absolutely impossible any other way. I would love to chat with him here if he is open to that. I published a book, “Beautiful Life with Cancer, Hope During the Hard Times”. It is available on Amazon. …if he is interested.
I hope to chat with you more.

  12. Dear Caroline,
I made an account here wanting to learn and write about food, but what I found through your blog is much more precious and exciting than that. Thank you that you are not afraid to share your relationship with Jesus to the world, and that this love overflows so that by reading your work, I am encouraged to fall more and more in love with Him each day. You have been given a wonderful talent with words and you have not held back from using it to glorify God– with each post my heart says a resounding AMEN! to God. He is so good and so wonderful beyond our imaginations. Thank you once again, and God bless you for your good and faithful work!
    Many blessings,
    Gloria 🙂

    May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.” Ephesians 3:16-19

  18. Hi Caroline! I noticed your blog and I greatly appreciate your posts. God is so good! My name is Ryan and I’m currently a student at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI working on a project called CancerEd. My team and I are developing curriculum materials to teach children about cancer in an interactive but scientifically accurate way. We are looking to send out a survey to parents who have had cancer to better understand how they communicate with their children about cancer and we would love your help with this! If you could email me at rdt5@students.calvin.edu, I would love to give you more information about the survey and about our project. Hope to hear from you soon! Thanks!
